Frock ON! Day 1

The best thing about being a Lolita in the UK is definitely the gigantic annual meets hosted by the Tea Party Club. After the perfection of last years' Juliette et JustinexGLB extravaganza they upped their game once again this year to host the largest Lolita specialist shopping event in the UK. On the 31st August, Lolitas from all over the country (and even some who travelled the continent just for the event) scuttled out of hotel rooms and houses to meet at the Royal Horseguards Hotel on the Thames to spend their hard earned cash, socialise and gain a few new frills.

Along side the big name Japanese brands that featured (Grimoire, J et J, Atelier Pierrot and Milles Fleurs to name but a few) were much loved Korean brands Haenuli and Baroque and a whole horde of other indie labels from all over the world- literally. All brands selling at the show, and even a few who werent so much, featured in two amazing fashion shows. Brands got to select their models themselves and everyone put in so much effort and looked amazing.

Activities from the rest of the day included a brand vs off brand Gok's Fashion Fix style fashion show- which came out a draw- lessons on bow tying, posing, and how to buy on the internet. There was also a designer Q&A session which i pretty much missed completely, a photobooth with free prints and of course- the SHOPPING! As well as a whole host of stores there was also a particularly fabulous bring and buy sale and i bagged myself quite a few things, lucky devil that i am ;)

Alice and the Pirates' St Mephisto's Castle & an Atelier Pierrot corset bustle skirt. I also bagged a necklace, wrist cuffs, glittery star clip (chocomint style) and and Innocent World brolly! I spend a lot of money! D:

But enough of all that, what you really want to see is what i wore, right? RIGHT?! Yeah, I thought so....

Since I want to have my own brand in the future but am relatively unknown in the loli-sphere I decided i would be making my own clothes for both days of Frock On. Day 1's outfit was my first ever hand designed print based on the quote 'No use in crying over spilt milk' which i aptly decided to change to 'spilt blood' for a gothic, vampire cafe theme. I'm pretty pleased with it actually, although I was more disappointed by Spoonflower's quality than i thought i would be. I also didn't order enough fabric since this was supposed to be a dress not a blouse and skirt combo. Unfortunately this mishap meant I didnt have time to make another blouse so I used this Bodyline one. Accesories include handmade bows, handmade hair chains, Antaina boots, Patisserie Ping bow ring, a necklace i had stashed away in my jewellery box and my Loris bat bag. The skirt had about 3m of fabric in it and was huge, so i naturally balanced that with huge hair using a combo of my own and fake hair pieces. Photo credits for these two go to local loli Caitlin and my friend Jian.

During the day we had organised a Leeds group photo- as you can see our area is pretty well presented! And yes, all we ever take is derpy photos because they always come out better than our normal ones! Creds to this one goes to Hannah! :)

All in all, it was an AMAZING day and everyone (genuinely everyone) looked amazing in their own unique ways. Everyone was friendly and good natured and i think its safe to say a good day was had by all- even by the couple who was getting married downstairs :) After a great closing speech by the organisers and a not-so-well executed group photo all headed home to prepare for day two.... Or so we thought! Actually, I had about 30 mins back at my hotel to change and freshen us before i headed back out for Fork On- a small gathering of us (mostly my local ladies and some others) for Korean food. It was an impromptu appearance for me and since it was a more casual affair I wore my starry Dreamy Bows dress which i had worn down the day before. Que mirror shot~
You can just about make out the star clip i bought here, and no, my bow didn't want to sit right...

But then i really did go back to my hotel and sleep ready for day two....

To be continued.....
